Travel to Zadar is easy, you can get there by bus, train, aeroplane and boat! even if you are a seasoned traveler you should equip yourself with some knowledge on how to get where you are going, it saves potential stress and lets you make the most of your precious holiday time!
The bus and train station is 1km out from the centre and can be reached by a 15 minute walk or by getting bus number 5. You can get a train to Zadar from Split, Zagreb and Sibenik but not directly from Dubrovnik. In Croatia it is often the case that busses are easier than trains, there is a bus from Zadar to Zagreb and Varazdin, Zadar to Zagreb and Osijek, Zadar to Split and Dubrovnik, and Zadar to Rijeka and Pula.
The airport is accessible via bus or taxi. It is situated 12km outside the town to the south east. Domestic flights to and from Zagreb are cheap and much quicker than the 7hr train! The airport-city buses are scheduled to run to support Croatian airline flights and cost 30kn running between the airport and the city centre. If you are not flying with Croatian Airlines then you either have to wait or get a taxi, the typical taxi fee is between 150 & 200kn.
Ferries dock at the Liburnska obala, 5 minutes from the city centre. There are ferries between Ancona in Italy and Zadar as well as all the ports along the Croatian coast. The nearby islands can also be accessed easily by regular ferry links.
